THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY SOLDIERS (A PASTICHE) → a ww1 au

it’s 1917 (because all ww1 soldiers from popular culture die/are injured in that year) in a region of france as yet undetermined (but probably near amiens) and six soldiers (dan stevens’ captain matthew crawley, tom hiddleston’s captain nicholls, eddie redmayne’s captain stephen wraysford, benedict cumberbatch’s christopher tietjens, matthew goode’s captain gray and daniel radcliffe’s captain jack kipling) find themselves separated from their companies.

forced to make shelter until the morning, there follows a night where they whine about their loves, their tragic lives and worst of all- bad war arcs. it’s tough (and gets tougher when leonardo dicaprio’s major jay gatsby pitches up and harps on about some girl called daisy until the break of day) but half of them are dead 2 weeks later so not too bad in hindsight

Actually,  the photographs are spaced ten years apart, not sixteen.

1912 to 1922.

The young, homeless (but no less dapper) wanderer shown in the first survived the sinking of the Titanic and swam to the shores of West Egg. There he built a life and a large, empty house, in an effort to win the heart of the wealthy, upper class woman he’d fallen in love with a decade earlier and had been separated from against his will.

He shed his earlier identity, and changed his name to reflect his new station. Jack was now known as Jay Gatzby, the eccentric millionaire who threw parties every night in the hopes that one day his love would show up and spin with him as they had long ago in the dance hall of the lower decks.

#and he still ends up dead floating in the water
